Hey Lykkers! If you're looking for your next adventure, let us take you on a journey through the stunning pastures of the Karwendel Mountains.
We had an unforgettable time soaking in the breathtaking landscapes, and we can’t wait to share our experiences with you!

Wandering Through Scenic Trails

As we set off on our journey, we were greeted by a tapestry of green pastures dotted with vibrant wildflowers. The Karwendel Mountains, part of the Northern Limestone Alps, offer an extensive network of hiking trails. One of our favorites was the hike to the Karwendelhaus, which took about 2-3 hours from the valley.
The trail is well-marked and leads us through serene landscapes, offering stunning views of the surrounding peaks. The Karwendelhaus is open daily from 8 AM to 7 PM during the summer months, and the best part? Entry is free!

Exploring Local Attractions

Another highlight was visiting the Walderalm, a cozy mountain hut that serves delicious local snacks. We were thrilled to find that they offer a delightful selection of vegetarian dishes. Try the Kaspressknödel (cheese dumplings), which cost around €8, and pair it with a refreshing Alpenkräutertee (mountain herb tea) for just €3. The combination of fresh air and hearty food made for an incredible experience!

Practical Tips for Your Adventure

If you're planning a visit, we recommend arriving early to beat the crowds. The best time to explore the pastures is from late spring to early autumn when the meadows are in full bloom. Make sure to wear sturdy hiking boots, as some trails can be steep and rocky. Also, pack plenty of water and snacks—there are limited facilities once you get deeper into the mountains.

Tasting Local Delights

After our hikes, we indulged in some local cuisine that truly captured the essence of the region. Apart from the cheese dumplings at Walderalm, we enjoyed Bergkäse (mountain cheese) served with fresh bread for around €10. Don’t miss out on trying the Schwarzplentensalat (black lentil salad) for about €7, a perfect refreshing dish to recharge after a day of hiking.

Stay in Comfort at Hotel Bergland

For a cozy place to rest after our mountain adventures, we found Hotel Bergland in Pertisau, just a short drive away from the trails. With rates starting at €120 per night, the hotel offers comfortable rooms with stunning views of the mountains and a lovely wellness area to unwind. Plus, the breakfast buffet is a treat you won’t want to skip!

Wrap-Up: Nature Awaits

As our trip came to a close, we left the Karwendel Mountains with hearts full of memories and a deep appreciation for nature's beauty. Whether you're an avid hiker or simply looking to enjoy some fresh mountain air, the pastures of the Karwendel offer something for everyone. So pack your bags, gather your friends, and get ready for an adventure of a lifetime!
